Day Ten: Rome

.This was our last day, and for the many it seemed like an exhausting forced march.  I elected to sleep in and take the day slow joining the crew for Mass, lunch and dinner, avoiding the Audience and the Museum.  So I took a cab to the Borgo Pio and had a small breakfast at my favorite place. then headed over to where Mass would be passing by the Audience still going on. I passed by the enorous "art" piece that mars the gracious lines of the square.  It had some interesting details and was a fitting place for pigeons.  Mass was being held in a large barn that goes by the name of Gregory VII. Acoustically it was grand and difficult to sing in.  It meant I had to articulate the words and slow the songs down, but it worked.  Then we went to Pranzo in a place I had never been before but could quickly become a favorite.  At Lunch was Patrick and Nancy Madrid and two of their sons on the pilgrimage, the Bishop and all the priests on the pilgrimage. Theo and Augustine took to their pipes after lunch.  As the rest of the pilgrimage headed to the Museum we headed to St. Peter.  The line to get in was huge, but we had a bishop with us and were able to get in the Church avoiding the line and finding our way in a back door. After spending time in the Basilica, we took a walk to the river Tiber and then headed to the bus meeting point to attend the final supper at a place in Trastevere.
